We have finally finished packing all of our things from our friends’ home in Mosman Park. Yesterday, we bought a video camera and an old Pentax. With those and my digital camera, we should be able to keep a pretty good record of this trip.
In the morning, we stopped by our friends’ place to use the internet. His housemate was painting in the backyard, and we didn’t want to disturb her. We emailed our family once more, and got some phone numbers to contact the insurance company (we still don’t have traveller’s insurance), and Karen from Perkins shipping in Darwin. We still need to organize everything with her and customs, but it shouldn’t be a problem. Our carnet application has been approved by Pepina at the AAA in Canberra, and will be waiting for us in Darwin.
We bought some groceries. Thank goodness for the Engel fridge! We’ve bought milk and one kilo of tasty cheese. This early in the trip, we could afford some fancy snacks: dried apricots, pistachios, and the best of all, cashew and macadamia mix! In a few months from now, when we’re only eating white rice, we will look back on this day!
I’m going to miss Perth greatly. Sipping tea and watching the painter is making me a little sad. It was especially hard to say goodbye to Henry, he is the greatest dog alive.
