Ready to leave Bangkok

4 February 2009

I have had such an amazing time around Bangkok! It was so nice to see Gaultier and to see that he is enjoying the city so much...Alas, there was no ping pong show or Thai boxing for us this time, but we’ve got to keep something for the next time we visit!

Our weekend at Erawan National park was fantastic! The park is well organized, neat, welcoming and affordable! Entry is 200 baht per person (6USD) with a 30 baht (less than 1USD) charge to bring in a car. Camping is 30 baht per person per night. There are clean western toilets at the campsite and cold showers (with shower heads and good water pressure!). There is even camping equipment to rent if you need! I was impressed with the park without even seeing its main attraction: the Erawan falls. We took a jungle (but really well cleared) path to the 3rd tier. The falls are made up of 7 main tiers where there are big pools for swimming. The trek is so enjoyable, with many different trees and pretty vines, butterflies, lizard and even crazy monkeys! The park officials even wrote a dozen panels in Thai and English that give some information on the species of plants in the forest. If it is sunny when you go there, make sure you don’t forget your camera! The vines are wild and the falls are breathtaking!

It was hard to leave the park, but I was glad to be getting back to Bangkok. It’s a big busy city, but I enjoy it! We were going to see Gaultier once more. We had to pick up our passports from the Indian embassy (we were both granted a 6 month tourist visa) and I had to get my tailored suit from Sunny’s. I am very happy with my suit, I look like a real adult! Now I just need a job (or opportunity) to wear it... Sunny was really friendly, professional, quick and honest! I would recommend him. He is on Silom rd near Silom Village.

Now we are ready to head to Laos! We will have a big day of driving tomorrow. We want to get there as soon as possible. The plan is to spend a few weeks there, then come back to Thailand and see the North (Chang Mai area). We will eventually drive back down to Kuala Lumpur to ship the car to India or Bangladesh.

The adventure continues!
